Bangladesh is a vibrant nation of over 170 million people, with more than half under the age of 25. Known for its rich history, bustling capital of Dhaka, and breathtaking landscapes, it is also one of the most densely populated countries in the world. While the nation is moving forward economically, many young people are searching for hope, meaning, and a future beyond the challenges of poverty, instability, and cultural resistance to the gospel.

 

Amid these challenges, God is writing a different story.

In Bangladesh, sharing the gospel is not easy. Cultural resistance and pressures often make open evangelism difficult, and many Christian groups focus more on aid than on direct gospel proclamation. Yet, in this environment, God has opened the door for a new generation of believers to rise up with boldness.

  • More than 200 leaders trained to share Christ with clarity and courage
  • 18 local churches strengthened through youth-focused ministry
  • Hundreds of teenagers and children reached through gospel camps and weekend programs

Every camp, every leader trained, and every youth discipled is a step toward a movement that could transform this nation for Christ.

FIJI

Fiji is a small island group in the South Pacific Ocean about two-thirds of the way from Hawaii to New Zealand. Fiji became an independent country in 1970, after almost a century as a British Colony.

The Fiji people are very open to the gospel and about 53% of the population profess to be Christians.

  • Local Church Ministries with 12 partner churches

Many people came to know the Lord, made a public declaration of their faith through baptism, and eventually grew and got involved in the ministry. More churches have started, and existing churches are opening up to our ministry programs.

INDIA

We’re on a mission to ignite the next generation of India, a country bursting with over 1.4 billion people, each carrying a rich cultural and spiritual heritage. Sadly, the Gospel isn’t widely accessible there. We believe that young people are the key to unlocking this potential, as over 600 million of them are eager to learn.

We’re equipping young individuals to live boldly for Christ by creating a movement of Gospel-cantered leaders through youth camps, leadership training, discipleship programs, and evangelistic initiatives.

Our vision is to empower local churches to ignite a youth movement through genuine Gospel sharing and intentional discipleship, reaching their generation for Jesus Christ.

Sharing the Gospel in India is both exciting and challenging. People are open to hearing the good news because they’re interested in the spiritual. However, the challenge arises when we share that there is only one God. Christianity can sometimes seem foreign, and anti-conversion laws in some states add to the difficulty. Persecution and oppression are growing, but the Gospel continues to advance. Many young people are searching for deeper meaning, and the Gospel’s message of hope and forgiveness offers a compelling alternative to traditional salvation systems.

Youth Camps
We’ve held camps in various parts of the country, where thousands of people have heard the Gospel. We use our camps as strategic moments not only to transform young lives but also to equip them to reach their communities.

Leadership Training & Discipleship
Leadership development is vital for the growth of the ministry. We’re focused on training youth leaders to be effective in their local churches. We’re aiming for thriving youth ministries across India, where the church is growing because of passionate youth dedicated to the Lord.

Sports Ministry
Sports are a fantastic way to open doors and break down barriers. We can show the love of Jesus to a community that’s never heard of Him before.

Church Partnerships
We truly believe that the church is God’s ultimate plan, and we’re committed to making it happen! We’re dedicated to serving the church by offering resources and training that will help it thrive and reach its full potential.

Evangelistic Events
In one part of the country, over 40,000 people got to hear the gospel, and more than 5,200 decided to accept Christ as their Savior this year!

INDONESIA

Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim-majority country and the fourth most populated nation overall with over 280 million people, is a diverse archipelago of 17,500 islands. Its five major islands are Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, and Papua. Approximately 28% of its population belongs to “Gen Z,” and its society encompasses over 600 ethnic and linguistic groups. Indonesians are known for their friendliness and tolerance, and the country is home to Bali, a globally renowned tourist destination.

Indonesia’s predominant religion presents a challenging, yet not impossible, evangelistic frontier. While many nominal Christians identify as believers from birth without a personal relationship with Jesus, testimony witnessing—sharing true stories of lives transformed by Christ—is a widely used and effective approach. Gospel conversations are crucial to help them understand salvation through grace by faith in Jesus.

  • Local Church Ministries
  • Camps in partnership with schools and churches, and island camps
  • English Ministry (English For Life)
  • About 6,200 individuals were exposed to the gospel and 520 teens were trained in a year.
  • Made official partnership with 3 Baptist synods (800+ churches combined)

JAPAN

Japan has one of the smallest Christian populations among developed nations, with only 0.45% identifying as an evangelical Christian. Word of Life Japan aims to reach the next generation of Japanese believers and empower local churches to spread the gospel and make disciples.

Despite being a modern first world country, most Japanese people have never heard a clear presentation of the gospel! Essential concepts like a singular God, sin, forgiveness, and faith are often unfamiliar, making it crucial to explain them clearly for understanding and belief. Yet even amid these challenges, God is actively working in Japan, transforming hearts and drawing people to Himself through the power of the gospel!

  • SYME is an English language discipleship school where students engage daily with the Word of God while also studying English (257students, 86 Bible Institute Graduates, 19 Pastors)
  • Camps – Through a partnership with Word of Life South Korea we offer a unique international camp experience for Japanese youth
  • Local Church Ministries are currently being developed with a specific aim to support the development of healthy youth ministries within the church of Japan.

New Zealand faces a critical need for the hope offered by Christ, particularly given its alarming youth suicide rate of 14.9 deaths per 100,000 adolescents as of 2020—the second highest in the developed world. While the Gospel is universal, presenting its message through the lens of humility, authenticity, community, and justice—values highly regarded by New Zealanders—can significantly enhance their understanding and engagement with Christ’s redemptive work.

A South Asian nation of over 240 million people,  98% are Muslims and 1.2% are Christians. Listed 5th most persecuted country in the world. A land of rich history, diverse culture, and deep traditions. With bustling cities, rural villages, and strong family structures, it is also a place where young people are searching for answers to life’s biggest questions. Sharing the gospel here is prohibited, yet in the midst of challenges, God is building His church.

 

Despite cultural barriers and pressure, local believers are rising with courage and vision. Word of Life has the privilege of walking alongside churches and training their youth leaders who are now passionate about reaching the next generation for Christ.

By serving churches and training leaders, we are helping lay the foundation for a movement that can impact Pakistan for decades to come.

PHILIPPINES

For over 50 years, Word of Life Philippines has effectively ministered to Filipino youth through camps, Local Church Ministries, the Bible Institute, and University Campus Ministry. Thousands have experienced God’s love at their camps, while Local Church Ministries have equipped numerous churches. The Bible Institute trains students from across Asia. University Campus Ministry has reached hundreds of students at the University of the Philippines – Los Baños, empowering them to share their faith.

In the Philippines, gospel ministry effectively reaches students on campus and local teenagers through diverse initiatives. Local churches spearhead efforts like camping ministries, Bible Institute programs, and university campus outreach. Additionally, sporting events and satellite camping bolster both the Bible Institute and local church ministries.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA

Word of Life in Papua New Guinea was established by Late Rev. John Airi and His wife Philomena in December of 2000.

Papua New Guinea has no state religion and openly collaborates with Christian organizations on various services, with churches also involved in local governance. The nation is receptive to the Christian gospel, and while its people are deeply religious, they are particularly open to clear presentations of the faith.

SOUTH KOREA

Despite historical ties to Buddhism and Confucianism, most South Koreans today are irreligious. The nation, home to some of the world’s largest mega-churches, has seen a shift towards materialism, leading to a decline in church attendance, particularly among youth (95% non-attending), and a rise in hopelessness. This is reflected in South Korea’s high suicide rate – a leading cause of death among its teenagers.

Significant parental and societal pressure emphasize academic excellence as the primary path to success, often leading to extensive supplementary education from kindergarten through high school. This intense focus can leave students feeling hopeless if they do not achieve educational success. Our mission is to share the Gospel, offering the message that true and ultimate hope is found in Jesus Christ.

  • Camps – Includes church camps, English camps, School camps, one day camps/events, and even some three-week Jr. SYME (School of Youth Ministry in English) camps.

However, this cycle of sacrifice is perpetual, as “it is never enough.” The Gospel offers a powerful counter-narrative, liberating individuals from the perceived bondage of ancestral spirits and providing the hope of eternity through a God whose singular sacrifice suffices. While belief in God is widespread, personal testimonies rarely include a distinct salvation experience. Many hold the view that actions contribute significantly to achieving salvation. Our primary objective is to clarify this misconception among young people, guiding them to recognize that salvation is a freely given gift, entirely independent of their deeds.

Bangladesh is a vibrant nation of over 170 million people, with more than half under the age of 25. Known for its rich history, bustling capital of Dhaka, and breathtaking landscapes, it is also one of the most densely populated countries in the world. While the nation is moving forward economically, many young people are searching for hope, meaning, and a future beyond the challenges of poverty, instability, and cultural resistance to the gospel.

 

Amid these challenges, God is writing a different story.

In Bangladesh, sharing the gospel is not easy. Cultural resistance and pressures often make open evangelism difficult, and many Christian groups focus more on aid than on direct gospel proclamation. Yet, in this environment, God has opened the door for a new generation of believers to rise up with boldness.

Sharing the Gospel in India is both exciting and challenging. People are open to hearing the good news because they’re interested in the spiritual. However, the challenge arises when we share that there is only one God. Christianity can sometimes seem foreign, and anti-conversion laws in some states add to the difficulty. Persecution and oppression are growing, but the Gospel continues to advance. Many young people are searching for deeper meaning, and the Gospel’s message of hope and forgiveness offers a compelling alternative to traditional salvation systems.

We’ve held camps in various parts of the country, where thousands of people have heard the Gospel. We use our camps as strategic moments not only to transform young lives but also to equip them to reach their communities.

Leadership Training & Discipleship

A land of rich history, diverse culture, and deep traditions. With bustling cities, rural villages, and strong family structures, it is also a place where young people are searching for answers to life’s biggest questions. Sharing the gospel here is prohibited, yet in the midst of challenges, God is building His church.

University Campus Ministry has reached hundreds of students at the University of the Philippines – Los Baños, empowering them to share their faith.

Bangladesh is a vibrant nation of over 170 million people, with more than half under the age of 25. Known for its rich history, bustling capital of Dhaka, and breathtaking landscapes, it is also one of the most densely populated countries in the world. While the nation is moving forward economically, many young people are searching for hope, meaning, and a future beyond the challenges of poverty, instability, and cultural resistance to the gospel.

Amid these challenges, God is writing a different story.

A Growing Gospel Movement

In Bangladesh, sharing the gospel is not easy. Cultural resistance and pressures often make open evangelism difficult, and many Christian groups focus more on aid than on direct gospel proclamation. Yet, in this environment, God has opened the door for a new generation of believers to rise up with boldness.

Looks Like

Sharing the Gospel in India is both exciting and challenging. People are open to hearing the good news because they’re interested in the spiritual. However, the challenge arises when we share that there is only one God. Christianity can sometimes seem foreign, and anti-conversion laws in some states add to the difficulty. Persecution and oppression are growing, but the Gospel continues to advance. Many young people are searching for deeper meaning, and the Gospel’s message of hope and forgiveness offers a compelling alternative to traditional salvation systems.

Indonesians are known for their friendliness and tolerance, and the country is home to Bali, a globally renowned tourist destination.

Indonesia’s predominant religion presents a challenging, yet not impossible, evangelistic frontier. While many nominal Christians identify as believers from birth without a personal relationship with Jesus, testimony witnessing—sharing true stories of lives transformed by Christ—is a widely used and effective approach. Gospel conversations are crucial to help them understand salvation through grace by faith in Jesus.

Despite being a modern first world country, most Japanese people have never heard a clear presentation of the gospel! Essential concepts like a singular God, sin, forgiveness, and faith are often unfamiliar, making it crucial to explain them clearly for understanding and belief. Yet even amid these challenges, God is actively working in Japan, transforming hearts and drawing people to Himself through the power of the gospel!

Sharing the gospel here is prohibited, yet in the midst of challenges, God is building His church.

For over 50 years, Word of Life Philippines has effectively ministered to Filipino youth through camps, Local Church Ministries, the Bible Institute, and University Campus Ministry. Thousands have experienced God’s love at their camps, while Local Church Ministries have equipped numerous churches. The Bible Institute trains students from across Asia. University Campus Ministry has reached hundreds of students at the University of the Philippines – Los Baños, empowering them to share their faith.

The nation is receptive to the Christian gospel, and while its people are deeply religious, they are particularly open to clear presentations of the faith.

Significant parental and societal pressure emphasize academic excellence as the primary path to success, often leading to extensive supplementary education from kindergarten through high school. This intense focus can leave students feeling hopeless if they do not achieve educational success. Our mission is to share the Gospel, offering the message that true and ultimate hope is found in Jesus Christ.

Despite its warm and hospitable people, safe environment, and rich blend of modern life and ancient culture, Taiwan faces considerable diplomatic challenges due to its complex relationship with China. There’s a significant need for evangelical outreach, as most Taiwanese have limited exposure to the gospel.

Looks Like

In Taiwanese culture, ancestor worship profoundly shapes an individual’s life, driven by the inherent question, “Who will sacrifice for me?” This leads to a lifelong pursuit of success, aiming to secure veneration after death. However, this cycle of sacrifice is perpetual, as “it is never enough.” The Gospel offers a powerful counter-narrative, liberating individuals from the perceived bondage of ancestral spirits and providing the hope of eternity through a God whose singular sacrifice suffices. Consequently, converting to Christianity can be a deeply impactful decision, often leading to familial disappointment or even disownment.
